The School of Languages ( Escuela de Lenguas) was opened on 30th September (year 1993) because the translator's day is celebrated that date. It belongs to the National University of La Plata.
Last Tuesday, September 22nd we had a wonderful experience: a chat session with students of English living. It was our (teachers' and students') experience, so we were anxious.
I was particularly worried about the hardware and the software because the event depended on them! Luckily, we managed to achieve our aim in spite of conection or some technical problems.
The Students were supposed to do certain tasks: Invite students to their MSN contact list and accept invitations, introduce themselves politely and find out some information about their chat partners. The results are below:

Six is death!!!
There are some popular phrases related to evil things. Write the complete version of the following phrases in “comments”, and send me the correct version to escuelaunlp@yahoo.com.ar (Every dash corresponds to one letter)

A colleague of mine, Prof. Ana María Menezes from Brazil, has started a project for two groups of her students about films. (What a coincidence!)They ´ve been talking about films and ways of describing them. They have posted their own recommendations and Ana María wanted them to see other people have been joining them.
They´re using a very interesting Web 2.0 tool called "Wall wisher" to collect their movie recommendations. Here´s her invitation to jovenes 4MA and 5me to join them at http://www.wallwish er.com/wall/ favouritefilms . All you have to do is get registered, double-click on the wall, write your name/nick, your text and add a link to a trailer from youtube. Remember to say you are from Argentina and mention your course! e.g. "Martín from 4ma A , La Plata, Argentina"
Last Saturday, I watched a film called "The lord of the rings". This is my favourite movie. I saw it 5 years ago in the cinema with my dad and my mum.
The story is a about a hobbit called Frodo, who found a very powerful ring. This ring belongs to Sauron, the king of Mordor.Frodo has to travel across the continent to arrive Mordor because the ring can only be destroyed if it's thrown into a volcano. In the trip he meets new friends like Aragon, Gimli and Legolas. These characters help Frodo in all his battles with the orcs, Mordor's soldiers. Aragon becomes later the king of Gondor while Frodo and Sam, one of the hobbit's friends , are destroying the ring. When they destroy it, Mordor disappears with Sauron. After that, peace returns.
The movie was recorded in New Zeland and it has one of the best special effects and clothing I've ever seen. I like this movie because it's very interesting and exciting film.
The Ring (by Renata and Jerónimo)
We saw the movie for the first time when we were about nine years old, at a pijama´s party, with our friends.
The plot of the film is about the revenge of an orphan girl, named Samara, who was later adopted by Anna Morgan and , two farmers. Because she was so weird, frightening, and savage, Anna decided to smother her with a bag and pushed her into a reef, where seven days later the little girl died. So, mystically, there is a video that shows Samara´s life, and kills everyone who watches it; but there are exceptions, if you prove Samara you care and understand her, and tell everybody how hard her life was, you are safe.
We enjoyed the film because it is very scary, and we love that! You can have a good time with your friends, if they aren’t dead yet.
The movie we’re going to write about is Titanic. We saw this movie with friends in our houses for the first time one night some years ago. We were eating pop corn, sweets, chocolates and drinking coke.
This movie describes a love story between a man named Jack and a lady called Rose. They were from different social classes; she was engaged with a rich man whereas Jack was a poor man who won a ticket for the trip in a poker game. When Jack saw Rose, he fell in love with her immediately. They spent time together, but her family didn’t accept him. One night the Titanic crashed with an iceberg and was starting to sink. The people were very scared, and everybody was shouting. The Capitan said that only women and kids must went on the small ships. Rose sated with Jack because she didn’t want to leave him alone, but finally Jack died on the ocean.
We love the story but this is very long, and sad at final.
Here is a video of one of the most famous episodes in the movie. Click on the play icon to watch it. If you have a slow Internet connection, its downloading may take some minutes. Be patient :-)
Yesterday I was alone and bored in my house when I realized that a friend had given me a DVD movie that morning, so I saw it. It was Pulp Fiction, the film of Quentin Tarantino. The movie is divided in three parts: “Vincent Vega and Marcellus Wallace’s wife”, “The gold watch” and “Bonnie’s situation”. Each part narrates a different story but they are interrelated.
The main actors are John Travolta, Samuel W. Jackson and Uma Thurman.
I think it is an excellent film, the dialogues and the acting are great and the plot structure is very original and entertaining. I liked it very much.
